Update 28-Nov-2010: Version 0.7 adds some new badge options (thanks, Stephen!)
Google Chrome users with the newest version of the browser are running into problems with some extensions that useĀ popups. ToodleChrome 0.4 is one of these extensions. It looks as though the Chrome/Chromium dev team has changed the way popups are styled. As a result, many extension popups are starting to appear as very skinny windows essentially rendering them useless. While a number of bug reports were filed with the Chromium browser dev team, they’re super busy. So, I thought I’d just make a few changes to the extension itself.
Version 0.5 of ToodleChrome displays the popup correctly. It also adds the capability to detach the popup into its own standalone window; and there is now a small wrench icon that will take users directly to the Options page (thanks to everyone for the feedback and suggestions).
I’ve also added eliotche.com as the verified author:
Not too long ago, Google started offering a Webmaster Tools program which provided the ability to link your website. While there are many other features of Web Tools, an important component is the ability to add your website as a “verified author” on other products. If you look at the page for ToodleChrome in the Google Chrome extension repository, you’ll see that eliotche.com is now listed as the Verified Author.
If you’d like make yourself the verified author on your own extensions, here’s how:
- Log into Webmaster Tools
- Click on “Add a site” and follow their instructions
- Go to your Extension page in the Chrome Extension Repository, and click Edit
- Scroll down to “This is an official item for a website I own” and select your website from the dropdown list.
- Click Publish Changes!
Now potential users will be much comfortable installing your extension (that’s the idea, anyway!).

[...] Update 2010-Nov-07: The 0.5 update fixes the popup issue and adds a couple features. Check out the details here. [...]
I added ToodleChrome as an app from the Chrome web store, but it doesn’t show up as a button. It does, however, show as being installed in the web store. Any suggestions? By the way my Toodledo account is under another email, would that make a difference?
@David have you tried re-installing the extension? If that doesn’t work, if you can send me a screenshot, I can take a closer look. Thanks.
Wow, this is great!
I hope I don’t sound ungrateful, but a feature request . . . I’d like to highlight text in chrome, click the ToodleChrome icon, and have the text show up in the note section of an add task window with the cursor in the task title box.
Just a request, many, many thanks for the extension just as it is.

@tim: hey no problem, glad you like the extension. What you’re looking for is possible but requires some detailed work with the Toodledo API (then I’d have to ask for usernames and passwords, etc). I don’t have the time for such a big addition at the moment, but it’s definitely on my todo list! Thanks for the feedback.
Has ToodleChrome disappeared from the Chrome Web Store? I’m sure I saw it there before and now it seems to be gone.
Any ideas? Thanks.
@Martyn: Thanks for checking it out. The extension had to go through Google’s review process, and disappeared from the Web Store while that was happening. It should reappear soon (though under the name “ToodleChromium” since Google is saying that I can’t use the term “Chrome” in the name of the extension).
Thanks @eliot Look forward to the extension reappearing so I can install on work profile.
